Shift: Evening Shift | 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
Schedule: 40 hours/week (Rotational weekends/holidays as required)
Pay Rate: $20/hr
Job Summary:We are seeking a dependable and experienced Medical Assistant to join a healthcare team within a correctional facility setting. This role involves providing essential clinical and administrative support to ensure high-quality patient care for an underserved population. The ideal candidate is adaptable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a secure environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist physicians and nursing staff with patient examinations and treatments
- Record vital signs, medical histories, and patient information accurately
- Administer basic clinical procedures (e.g., wound care, EKGs, specimen collection)
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms and medical equipment
- Support medication administration under supervision
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in EMR systems
- Respond to medical emergencies following established protocols
- Ensure compliance with facility policies, infection control, and safety standards
- Coordinate with correctional officers to ensure safe patient movement and care delivery
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
- Minimum 1 year of recent Medical Assistant experience (correctional or acute care preferred)
- Active BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures
- Experience with EMR systems
- Prior experience in correctional healthcare, urgent care, or emergency settings
- Strong ability to work in a fast-paced, high-security environment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Secure correctional/jail facility
- Requires adherence to strict safety and security protocols
- Must be comfortable working with incarcerated individuals
