What are the responsibilities and job description for the Camp Jack Junior Counselor position at People Incorporated?
Pay $15/hour
Temporary position - 32 hours.
SUMMARY:- Counselor supports campers and staff members under the supervision of the Camp Director
and Camp Leadership Team. This position is designed for youth ages 16–17 who are interested
in developing leadership, communication, teamwork, and childcare skills within a structured
camp environment. Junior Counselors serve as positive role models for younger campers while
assisting with daily camp activities, camper supervision, and program support. Applicants must
have attended Camp Jack for at least one prior season. A Type 1 diabetes diagnosis is preferred
but not required; however, priority consideration will be given to applicants living with T1D.

Essential Functions
- Attend mandatory orientation sessions, diabetes training, and educational programming
- Act as a role model for program participants
- Assist with implementation of scheduled camp activities
- Assist camp staff with daily camper support responsibilities, including snack distribution
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized camp environment by completing daily rotating
- Monitor and restock water stations
- Assist with end-of-day cabin cleanup procedures
- Enforce program safety rules and maintain a safe and clean environment
- Report all concerns to the Camp Director or Camp Jack Leadership
- Participate in all program staff meetings and all required training sessions, including
- Maintain all program and Agency required trainings
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Ability to provide current copy of required health records
- Ability to interact in a professional manner with campers and coworkers
- Ability to follow policy and instruction
- Must be between the ages of 16 and 17 years old
- Ability to provide a Massachusetts Youth Workers Permit
