Our client is seeking an experienced Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) to join their Miami-based freight forwarding operation. This role is responsible for ensuring full compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations while overseeing and supporting import operations. Key Responsibilities
- Act as the company’s Licensed Customs Broker, ensuring adherence to all CBP regulations and U.S. import laws.
- Oversee and manage all phases of the customs clearance process, from entry filing through post-entry activities.
- Maintain and continuously improve CBP compliance programs, including audits, recordkeeping, and internal controls.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with CBP, PGA agencies, and other regulatory bodies.
- Monitor regulatory changes and ensure timely implementation of new requirements.
- Conduct ongoing training for import and operations staff on customs regulations, compliance procedures, and best practices.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to import staff to improve accuracy, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
- Review and resolve customs issues, including holds, exams, discrepancies, protests, and post-summary corrections.
- Support management with compliance reporting, risk mitigation, and process improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications (Must-Haves)
- Active U.S. Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) in good standing.
- 5 years of active experience working as a Licensed Customs Broker.
- Strong, hands-on experience in CBP compliance and regulatory enforcement.
- Highly experienced in all phases of U.S. Customs protocols, including classification, valuation, country of origin, and admissibility.
- Demonstrated experience providing ongoing customs training and compliance education.
- Proven track record of training and developing import staff.
- In-depth knowledge of CBP systems, policies, and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within a freight forwarder or customs brokerage environment.
- Familiarity with ACE, PGA requirements, and post-entry compliance processes.
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills.
