Our client, a leading freight forwarder based in Wood Dale, Illinois is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Export Agent to join their team. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to collaborate with global logistics partners, manage export operations, and ensure compliant, efficient movement of goods worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage day-to-day export shipments (air and/or ocean), ensuring timely and accurate processing.
• Prepare and review export documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, AES filings, and HAWBs/MAWBs.
• Communicate with carriers, vendors, customs brokers, and overseas agents to track and monitor shipments.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. export regulations, incoterms, and company policies.
• Provide exceptional customer service through proactive status updates, issue resolution, and shipment monitoring.
• Book cargo with airlines or ocean carriers and negotiate rates when needed.
• Maintain accurate data entry within TMS systems and internal files.
• Support billing tasks by verifying charges and ensuring timely invoicing.
• Collaborate with internal departments to improve workflow and customer experience.
• Handle problem-solving related to delays, documentation discrepancies, and transportation challenges.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in export operations within a freight forwarding environment (air and/or ocean).
• Knowledge of export documentation, regulations, and incoterms.
• Experience working with CBP, AES, and major international carriers.
• Proficiency in freight forwarding software/TMS systems (CargoWise knowledge is a plus).
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid setting.
