Maintenance Technician

POSITION OVERVIEW

Repairs and maintains physical structures of commercial and residential establishments such as office buildings and client homes. Keep the building and grounds in an orderly condition. Maintains and makes minor repairs of equipment and building areas. 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Assist in using hand tools and power tools to replace defective electrical switches and other fixtures.
• Perform maintenance of electrical systems (replace light bulbs and sockets, clean and repair circuit breaker panels etc.)
• Inspect alarm systems (fire, protection) and schedule repairs when needed.
• Maintaining the building HVAC equipment in order to keep climate control in the properties functioning properly.
• Apply preventative measures to the properties to reduce the risk of future problems, such as water leakages.
• Fix potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.
• Paint structures and repair woodwork with carpenter’s tools.
• Repair plumbing fixtures, plaster and brick as needed.
• Move contents of housing or office when transition is necessary.
• Order supplies and replacements as needed.
• Serves as backup for other location crews as needed.
• Conduct and inspect for general upkeep procedures (e.g. caulking, mold, doors, clutter, infestation of rodent and/or bed bugs, windows, and doors) and other tasks as assigned.
• Perform manual repairs when necessary (fix/replace locks, garbage disposals)

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES 

Maintains code compliant housing and an orderly building and premises.

EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE AND JOB REQUIREMENTS 

Education:  High School Diploma and/or equivalent work experience. 

OJT:  One to three months training required for effective performance.

Job Requirements:

Must have personal means of reliable transportation.

Must be able to stoop, bend, twist and stand for extended periods of time and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

Must have a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.

Must have the ability to operate machinery required for maintaining the facility.

Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.

Must be able to complete required training program (s).

COMMENTS: Must have the ability to work with minimum amount of supervision.
