Core Responsibilities to Highlight:
- Establishing and owning Functional Safety Management (FSM) system, defining toolchains, processes, and templates.
- Leading Item Definition, Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA), and setting Safety Goals for vehicle systems (Powertrain, Chassis, ADAS).
- Deriving Functional and Technical Safety Concepts (FSC/TSC) and driving cross-functional alignment across hardware and software engineering teams.
- Managing suppliers by defining safety requirements and auditing third-party components against corporate ASIL targets.
- Compiling comprehensive "Safety Cases" to justify public road safety readiness.
- Building, training, and mentoring a growing portfolio team of safety engineers.
Required Technical Credentials & Experience:
- Mandatory Certification: ISO 26262 Functional Safety Professional/Expert certification through accredited bodies such as TÜV SÜD or exida.
- Preferred Certification: UL 4600 and SOTIF (ISO 21448) Autonomy Safety Professional credentials.
- Legal Mandate: Must strictly be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident with full proof of immediate employment eligibility.
- Experience Baseline: 7 years in automotive engineering, with a minimum of 4 years dedicated specifically to ISO 26262 environments.
- Academic Background: B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Analysis Toolkit: Mastery of ASIL decomposition, FMEDA, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and FMEA.
- Software/Hardware Exposure: Familiarity with safety-critical software rules (MISRA C/C , Adaptive AUTOSAR) and hardware mechanisms like Lockstep cores and ECC.
Work Environment Adaptability:
- Ability to work comfortably in both an office environment and an active, fast-paced manufacturing area exposed to heat, cold, moving objects, and sheet metal (p. 3).
- Readiness to spend frequent weeks working 40 hours alongside stakeholder communication loops.
