Responsibilities:
• Lead Part Evaluations for “Spot Buy/Stockpile” effort performing A to B comparisons and lab testing support of Supply Operations
• Raise alerts for any new or continuing Troubled Supplier issues to ensure production keeps running.
• Attend Trouble Supplier meetings to know which engine plants are at risk of shut down and work with team to mitigate risk – determine if alternative fasteners exist and raise alerts as necessary.
• Conduct and manage PV test plan for all resourced Troubled Supplier parts.
• Perform A to B comparisons (coordinate w/ new supplier, ensuring new supplier fatigue data is correct (run correlation sample in lab, if needed), and coordinate any required engine/dyno testing.
• Manage list of resource parts, new supplier info, key contacts, and communication between purchasing, plant and application engineers
• Execute Commonization of Fasteners (where feasible)
• Manage Critical Engine Fastener Supplier Evaluations
• Perform work tasks on-site at Client’s facilities (Dearborn, MI) with travel required as needed to Client’s engine and assembly plants, as well as supplier plant visits.
• Lead team meetings.
• Document lessons learned
• Proactively follow-through responsible activities along with required documentation to meet the milestones and deliverables.
Qualifications
• 5 years of demonstrated automotive experience with detail-oriented focus in Fasteners for Powertrain and automotive systems
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Metallurgical, Materials Science & Engineering)
• Knowledge of automotive fasteners, joint design and power tool technology
• Knowledge of quality tools such as D/PFMEA, Global 8D, Six Sigma, failure analysis and prevent recurrence
• Experience with automotive systems, components and assembly methods
• Experience in testing and data analysis
• Experience with Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Self–motivated, team-oriented and ability to work with others
