The Penta Career Center Treasurer is responsible for the oversight of the districts financial operation of the organization, and the board seeks a proven leader whose expertise in school finance and passion for service is demonstrated by previous leadership experiences. As a leader with exceptional communication abilities, this person must have expertise in developing and managing efficient business office systems and procedures, and effectively communicating procedures to staff. A culture-builder who demonstrates a strong work ethic and is relationship- focused, this individual must be comfortable working in an effective, respectful, and straightforward manner.Promoting and protecting Pentas core values in interactions with staff while maintaining compliance with federal and state laws, rules, and regulations as well as board policy is critical. As a positive influencer who is accessible to staff, the Treasurer will strive to successfully balance these challenges.
The Treasurer will be a resource for the board of education, superintendent and staff and will assist with and convey pertinent information on a regular basis.A systems thinker with attention to procedural details, the Treasurer must be consistent, clear and dependable while operating withing established systems and must be willing to hold all staff accountable. This leader must demonstrate experience with and understanding of fiscal credibility and accountability, operating software, electronic data processing and must have a proven track record with successful audits.Confidence, integrity, trustworthiness, confidentiality, transparency, strong interpersonal relationships, and the ability to be an adaptive learner and a supportive, ethical collaborator are important personal attributes.The ability to listen, have hard conversations and communicate exceptionally well is necessary for success. The Treasurer leads and manages the effective delivery and advancement of Pentas operations in close partnership with the Superintendent. This leader exemplifies professionalism that advances Pentas public image, maintains open and effective communication, and is a lifelong learner that pursues opportunities to enhance professional performance.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Developing short and long-range financial forecastsEvaluating, establishing, and maintaining adequate internal accounting controls and demonstrating a thorough knowledge of sound fiscal management.Using electronic data processing and financial software for spreadsheets proficiently with preference to experience in eFinancePlus, electronic banking systems, and forecasting software.Managing and overseeing team members in the Treasurers officeAbility to sustain the positive and collaborative working relationship between the superintendent and treasurers office and between the offices and the board of education.Skillfully communicating financial information to the board and community with transparency and integrityUnderstanding federal, state, and local funding and possess related advocacy experience to meet Penta Career Centers needsActively assisting in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board Policy, as well as federal and Ohio law.Working under the guidelines of Pentas Mission Statement and goalsAttending district and state professional development eventsRemaining free of any non-prescribed controlled substance or alcohol abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the district.Assuming any other responsibilities as assigned by the Board of EducationPenta Career Center is looking for a candidate who possesses: Valid Ohio Treasurers licenseBachelors degree or higherMinimum 5 years successful experience as an Ohio school district treasurerA strong understanding of Ohio public school law and school financeExperience with Career Technical Education funding is ideal.Excellent planning, organizational, critical thinking skills, and attention to detailSuccessful collective bargaining/contract negotiation experienceThe Treasurer position is a 12-month work year with a negotiable starting date and a salary commensurate to experience and qualifications.
