What are the responsibilities and job description for the Infant Lab Technician position at Penta Career Center?
STARTING DATE: 2026 - 2027 School Year
REPORTS TO: Human Services Supervisor
WORK DAY/YEAR: 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. / 185 days, as per Board-adopted calendar
SALARY RANGE: Appropriate step on Instructional Aide salary schedule; Commensurate with experience and education
QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Minimum three (3) years of experience preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with parents, family members, children and high school students.
- Coordinate registration of the infants with the supervisor and Early Childhood Education (ECE) team.
- Knowledge of Early Learning and Day Care Center licensing laws is suggested.
- Knowledge & implementation of the Ohio Early Learning Standards.
- Work cooperatively as a team with the ECE staff to maintain the safety of all infants, infant records, meet all licensing requirements, implementation of the safety & sanitation of the lab environment.
- Must be OCCRRA certified or ability to obtain certification within 30 days upon hiring.
- Must successfully complete first aid/CPR, communicable disease training and recognizing signs of child abuse within 30 days of hire.
- Proof of mandated health requirements, (i.e. negative tuberculosis test, whooping cough vaccine, etc.), or ability to get upon hiring.
- Documented evidence of a clear criminal record and ability to obtain three references.
- Work under the guidelines of Penta’s Mission Statement and goals.
- Attend district and state professional development events.
- Remain free of any non-prescribed controlled substance or alcohol abuse in the workplace throughout employment in the district.
- Assume any other responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor, Director, Superintendent, Board of Education, or their designee(s).
- Must get a completed physician’s medical statement upon hiring as per ODE licensing rules.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Serve as an appropriate role model in the infant lab environment while working with high school students.
- Maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the resources provided by the district.
- Enforce and maintain appropriate classroom rules to support student discipline and effective classroom management.
- Provide proper infant care and oversee the daily management of the infant lab environment.
- Work cooperatively with the ECE team in the operation, organization, and sanitation of the infant classroom and lab environment.
- Maintain current, complete and accurate records as required by ODE Early Learning, licensing, district policy and administrative regulations and lesson planning.
- Maintain mandatory records, files, paperwork and meeting all ODE/ODJFS licensing requirements.
