Systems Engineer (Infrastructure & Platform)

Location: Onsite – Troy, MI

Reports To: Infrastructure & Security Manager

Position Summary

Hands-on Systems Engineer responsible for supporting and maintaining core infrastructure including Hyper-V, Storage Spaces Direct (S2D), Windows Server, and security platforms.

This role operates in a small, high-responsibility IT team and requires the ability to own issues end-to-end, support production systems, and contribute to infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

Onsite presence is required.

• Administer and support Hyper-V environments (VMs, hosts, clustering)
• Support Storage Spaces Direct (S2D) (health, performance, capacity)
• Manage Windows Server (AD, DNS, DHCP, patching, file services)
• Support Palo Alto firewalls (NAT, policies, VPNs)
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, system, and connectivity issues
• Support VisualCron jobs and automation workflows
• Assist with eGAMS, IIS, and application environments
• Provide Tier 2 / Tier 3 support and follow SLA/escalation processes
• Participate in infrastructure projects (upgrades, deployments, improvements)
• Maintain accurate documentation and root cause analysis
  
  

Required Skills

• Strong experience with Hyper-V and Windows Server
• Experience with high availability / clustering
• Firewall experience (Palo Alto preferred)
• Solid troubleshooting across systems and basic networking
• PowerShell or scripting experience
  
  

Preferred Skills

• Storage Spaces Direct (S2D)
• SQL Server experience (performance basics, jobs, troubleshooting)
• IIS / web application support
• VMware to Hyper-V migration experience
  
  

Experience

• 4–7 years in systems/infrastructure roles
• Experience supporting production environments
• Ability to balance support and project work
  
  

Work Requirements

• 100% onsite role (5 days/week)
• Occasional after-hours support as needed
