Purchasing Specialist (Centralized Parts Specialist) (Job Number: 2121136 )

Position Summary:

Penske’s Parts Ordering Specialist is responsible for executing part procurement for designated locations. This position will be expected to build on supplier relationships and boost order accuracy by analyzing supplier performance measures and addressing order discrepancies.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Manage parts purchasing and monitor inventory for assigned locations
  • Create/Maintain a supplier profile
  • Capture location and supplier level order exceptions
  • Measure supplier performance in fulfilling orders
  • Address discrepancies found in purchase order audit
  • Follow up on late orders to obtain delivery status
  • Resolve suspended invoices for all parts in the PEMS system
  • Obtain order confirmations from suppliers
  • Timely execute part orders
  • Conduct regular district calls with the field’s finance and service managers
  • Provide payment for credit card purchase orders
  • Maintain PCI compliance to ensure all security standards are met.
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned by Supervisor
  • High school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Experience with inventory and/or purchasing parts preferred
  • 2-3 years’ experience with field systems and processes related to PartsNet, ServiceNet, Rental, Fuel, etc.
  • 2-3 years of transportation industry preferred
  • Green Belt Certification preferred
  • Ability to foster strong relationships, especially with customers
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, handle multiple projects
  • Proficiency with MS applications including Word, Excel, Outlook is required
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, required
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
  • Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required.
