At the forefront of medical discovery as it relates to understanding the causes of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and dementia, Pennington Biomedical Research Center is a campus of Louisiana State University and conducts basic, clinical and population research. The Center includes Basic Science, Clinical Research, and Population and Public Health, enabling both focused research and translational science. Job Description:

Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher in Brian Glycemia and Metabolic Control.

A postdoctoral position is currently available in Dr. Yanlin He’s laboratory at Pennington Biomedical Research Center (PBRC) at Louisiana State University.

Dr. He’ and his staff have been using genetic mouse models, combined with electrophysiology, neuroanatomy, optogenetics/chemogenetics, molecular biology, and biochemistry to study the neural control of feeding behavior, metabolism, glycemia, mood and cognitive behaviors. Previous work from Dr. He's lab has resulted in publications in Nature Medicine, Nature Neuroscience, Nature Communications, Molecular Psychiatry, Science Advances, Biological Psychiatry, Journal of Clinical Investigation, Molecular Metabolism, etc. Ongoing projects receive funding from NIH and Louisiana.

Job Responsibilities

  • Laboratory animal work - Help with organization of breeding colonies, genotyping, performing some animal experiments (e.g. peripheral injections, blood sampling, perfusion, tissue collection).
  • Perform the electrophysiology recording in brain slices.
  • Help with organization of breeding colonies, genotyping, performing some animal experiments (e.g. peripheral injections, blood sampling, perfusion, tissue collection).
  • Perform neuroanatomical/Immunohistochemical experiments.

Required Qualifications

  • Candidates must a doctoral degree in neuroscience, physiology, endocrinology, molecular biology, or other related disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in electrophysiology and animal surgery.
  • Experience with histology techniques, mouse work and/or neuro-anatomical techniques.
