Penn United Technologies, Inc. is now accepting applications for a full-time Apprentice Machinist to join our Component Manufacturing team at our Carbide Division. This is an excellent opportunity to launch a hands-on career in the precision manufacturing industry with on-the-job training and advancement pathways based on your skill development.

This role requires the flexibility to rotate among daylight and afternoon shifts. A 10% shift premium is offered for non-daylight shifts.

Responsibilities
- Read prints & job orders to determine dimensions and machine set-up
- Set-up and operate various machining equipment such as 5 axis CNC lathes, and CNC mills in order to machine components to precise customer specifications
- Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors or enter commands to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control media.
- Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications using precision measuring devices (such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.)
- Attend on-site apprenticeship classes in addition to on-the-job learning while performing responsibilities on the shop floor. This is a state recognized Apprenticeship program leading to Journeyworker papers upon completion of the 4-year training program.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Have excellent math & mechanical skills/aptitude
- The ability & desire to do precision work
- Knowledge of blueprint reading, and precision measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers strongly preferred, but not required
- Candidates must be able to work shifts, lift up to 40 lbs., and stand 8-10 hours per day.
- Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience with lathes, mills and/or surface grinders is preferred, but not required
