Job Title: Allied Health Practice Specialist

Department: CPUP AED Nursing

Entity: Clinical Practices of the University of Pennsylvania (CPUP)

Location: 3535 Market Street

Hours: M-F, 8-4:30 with flexibility in hours based on operational need

Summary:

  • The Allied Health Practice Specialist is knowledgeable regarding practice standards, workflows and identification of educational needs across departments for the allied health professionals. This position is required to evaluate, standardize and ensure alignment of allied health professional practice with systemwide policies, regulatory requirements and applicable governing bodies. Under the administrative direction of the clinical manager, this position will collaborate as a team member with clinical and departmental leaders. The Allied Health Practice Specialist will evaluate and identify workflows, ensure consistent and compliant clinical practice. The specialist will with partner with Professional Development to design effective onboarding and ongoing training and competencies according to their professional scope of practice, Penn Medicine's core values, and the entity's strategic plan. Working from a specialized knowledge base, the Allied Health Practice Specialist will offer expert consultation in collaborative partnerships with various stakeholders to deliver support and programs that uphold practice standards, support evidence-based practice, and improve the delivery of high-quality, comprehensive, individualized patient-and-family-centered care. The Allied Health Practice Specialist provides insight to identify the learning needs of the allied health professionals and responds to these needs while considering the affected patient populations, new clinical evidence, organizational goals, and changes both locally within the health system and nationally/globally. This role is based out of Philadelphia, however some travel to various CPUP practice locations throughout the region will be required.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver allied health workflows and standards that incorporate adult learning principles and culturally responsive approaches to meet the learning needs of outpatient allied health staff.
  • Create and maintain an effective learning environment by selecting appropriate cognitive, psychomotor, and affective content and using methods that promote critical thinking, reflection, and engagement.
  • Support ongoing educational and professional development by acquiring new knowledge, maintaining clinical and educational competence, and encouraging participation in professional organizations and continuing education activities.
  • Consult with leaders and stakeholders to develop programs aligned with departmental and organizational strategies and priorities, while anticipating emerging trends and acting as a catalyst for change and improvement.
  • Communicate recommendations effectively to influence decision making, support practice improvement, and strengthen interdisciplinary teamwork.
  • Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization.

Credentials, Education, and Equivalent Experience:

  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
  • 5 years relevant experience (Required)
  • Advanced degrees (Bachelor's, Master's) may be considered in lieu of some experience.
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science preferred
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support from the American Health Association (Required)
