Position Description
PARAEDUCATOR II - RESOURCE:
This position assists a certifi cated classroom teacher, Resource Room teacher or other staff member(s) with instructional and non-instructional activities for students as indicated by their IEP. Responsibilities include instructional assistance for students, de-escalating and monitoring student behavior, data collection, and preparing classroom materials. Duties may also include clerical work such as typing and duplicating materials, providing basic fi rst aid and personal care assistance, or supervising students on the playground or other school environments.
Paraeducator Iii - Options
This position supports students in special education programs with a life skills, functional academic and vocational/transition focus under the direction of a certifi cated special education provider. Responsibilities include providing individualized instruction in cognitive, academic, communication, social, motor, and adaptive skills as outlined in students' IEPs, and supporting on-the-job training activities, social, community, and transition skills. Additional duties include assisting with functional and daily living skills (e.g., budgeting, shopping, household chores, functional reading and writing, safety, and transportation), implementing behavioral interventions, collecting and maintaining data to guide instruction, and collaborating with special and general education staff . The role may also involve assisting with personal care and health needs, duplicating materials, providing basic fi rst aid, supervising students across school and community environments, and maintaining program records.

Requirements For Consideration
This position in Peninsula School District is required by law to meet ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) requirements:
- Must show documentation of a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must fulfill one of the three following requirements:
- Completed 72 quarter or 48-semester credits at an institution of higher education, OR
- Obtained an Associate's (or higher) degree, OR
- Take and pass the Para Pro Assessment developed by the Educational Testing Service (ETS)

- Scores must be 455 or above to meet the minimum Washington state standards
- Test Fee: $55.00, exact cash or check required
- Photo identification is required at the time of testing
- Testing requires a three-hour time block
FUNDAMENTAL COURSE OF STUDY
- FCS training is offered by the district and must be completed as directed by the district.

- Must complete training in First Aid and CPR training after employment is offered.
- Must complete Right Response training after employment is offered. Right Response training is conducted primarily on weekends as a two-day paid training.
- Unless you have been fingerprinted in a school district within the last two years, you will be required to have fingerprinting done. The Olympic ESD 114 (360.478.6881) in Bremerton offers digital live-scan fingerprinting services by appointment for a fee of $83.00.
