Job Summary:
This position manages operations at County Solid Waste Transfer Stations, including recycling, household hazardous waste, and refuse collection. It also supports litter cleanup programs, coordinates with the public and commercial haulers, and assists in emergency response.
Key Duties:
- Operate and maintain equipment (forklifts, backhoes, roll-off trucks, cardboard baler).
- Oversee waste flow, recycling, and hazardous waste processing.
- Conduct landfill water sampling and maintain records.
- Handle cash transactions and operate scales.
- Maintain safety procedures and proper hazardous material handling.
- Provide customer service and public information.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Class A CDL, CPR, and First Aid certification.
- Ability to obtain refrigerant recovery and HAZWOPER certification within 6 months.
- Strong mechanical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently in various outdoor conditions, lift heavy objects, and perform manual labor.
Work Environment:
Outdoor, physically demanding role with exposure to noise, chemicals, and weather. Regular attendance required; no telecommuting.
