Survey / Field Data Technician

Key Responsibilities:

• Support field surveys, measurements, and data collection activities for track and associated infrastructure.
• Assist with documentation of existing conditions, geometry-related observations, field constraints, and access considerations.
• Support instrumentation setup, field checks, and data capture for condition or performance assessments.
• Assist with measurement efforts related to rail corrugation, dynamic-force observations, or similar field testing tasks.
• Maintain field notes, sketches, logs, and photo documentation to support engineering and inspection teams.
• Support engineers and inspectors with accurate, timely field data needed for analysis and design.
• Help maintain equipment readiness, calibration awareness, and field documentation consistency.
• Assist with site access coordination, safety preparation, and mobilization planning.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma, technical school, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum three (3) years of field data, survey, inspection support, or technician experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work in outdoor or active project environments.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience on rail, transportation, heavy civil, or construction projects.
• Familiarity with survey instruments, measurement tools, and field logging practices.
  

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

• Ability to work in varying weather and field conditions.
• Ability to lift, carry, and use field equipment safely.
• Ability to obtain project access and safety credentials as required.

Compensation

• $26 – $49 per hour, depending on Experience, Field Experience, and Applicable Certifications.
