Pellas Gallery is a contemporary art gallery located on Newbury Street in Boston’s Back Bay. Founded in 2019 by collectors Alfredo Pellas and Isabel Arguello, the gallery represents an international roster of emerging and established contemporary artists from around the world.


Our mission is to connect exceptional artists with collectors through thoughtfully curated exhibitions, personalized art advising, and memorable cultural experiences. We believe collecting art should be both intellectually engaging and deeply personal.


Role Description


Pellas Gallery is seeking an ambitious, polished, and entrepreneurial Gallery Director to oversee daily gallery operations while driving sales, cultivating collector relationships, and representing the gallery at the highest level.


This is a client-facing leadership role for someone who thrives in a luxury environment, enjoys building relationships, and has a passion for contemporary art, design, hospitality, and sales.


The Gallery Director will work closely with ownership to grow the gallery’s collector base, manage exhibitions, oversee artists, and execute both in-gallery and off-site events.


Responsibilities


Gallery Operations


• Oversee the daily operations of the gallery


• Ensure the gallery is maintained to luxury presentation standards


• Coordinate artwork installations and de-installations


• Manage artwork inventory and logistics


• Supervise gallery staff and contractors



Sales & Client Relations


• Build long-term relationships with collectors, designers, developers, architects, and corporate clients


• Conduct private appointments and art consultations


• Present artworks confidently and professionally


• Negotiate and close luxury art sales


• Follow up with prospective collectors and maintain CRM records


• Develop new business opportunities and strategic partnerships


Artist Relations


• Maintain strong relationships with represented artists


• Coordinate consignments and commissions


• Manage exhibition planning and artist communications


• Assist in identifying new artists for representation


Marketing & Social Media


• Manage the gallery’s Instagram and social media presence


• Create engaging content including Reels, Stories, photography, and exhibition coverage


• Coordinate newsletters and email marketing campaigns


• Collaborate on advertising and promotional initiatives


• Maintain the gallery website and online inventory


Events


• Plan exhibition openings and collector events


• Coordinate private viewings


• Manage gallery rentals and special events


• Represent Pellas Gallery at art fairs and community events


Administrative


• Manage invoices, purchase agreements, and artwork documentation


• Coordinate shipping and artwork logistics


• Maintain accurate inventory records


• Assist with budgeting and reporting


Qualifications


Preferred Qualifications


• 3 years in luxury sales, art galleries, auction houses, interior design, hospitality, or high-end retail


• Proven sales experience


• Passion for contemporary art


• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills


• Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail


• Strong aesthetic sense


• Comfortable using Instagram and creating social media content


• Experience with Shopify, Artlogic, ArtBase, Artsy, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar platforms is a plus


• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
