What are the responsibilities and job description for the Diesel & Heavy Equipment Service Technician position at Pell's Farm Service, Inc.?
At Pell’s Farm Service, we’re not just another dealership. We’re a second-generation, family-owned Kubota powerhouse that’s been the backbone of West Michigan agriculture, landscaping, and construction since 1977. Our shop isn’t a revolving door—it’s a place where skilled techs are respected, supported, and given the tools (and time) to do quality work they can be proud of. If you’re the kind of technician who takes ownership of every repair, loves cracking tough diagnostics, and gets fired up knowing your work helps farmers feed families and builders shape communities, this is your long-term home.
What You’ll Do (and Why It Matters)
- Diagnose and repair a wide range of ag and construction equipment—everything from Kubota tractors to heavy loaders that keep projects moving.
- Master electronic and computer diagnostics on modern diesel systems.
- Tackle diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and everything in between with precision.
- Deliver reliable machines to the people who literally keep America fed and built—your work has real impact every single day.
Who We’re Looking For
- 3–5 years of hands-on heavy-duty/diesel mechanic experience (required).
- Ag equipment background is a big plus (but we’ll value strong construction or truck experience too).
- Solid command of diesel engines, hydraulics, electronics, and diagnostic tools.
- Dependable, detail-oriented, and a true team player who shows up ready to own the job.
What You Get (Beyond a Paycheck)
- Competitive pay: based on experience and skills.
- Full benefits package:
- 401(k) with matching
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- Paid time off
- Employee discounts
- Referral bonuses
- Retirement plan support
- A family culture that actually walks the talk: accountability, respect, and genuine care for our people.
- Year-round, stable work with modern equipment and a supportive shop environment—no micromanaging, just great techs doing great work.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years mechanical experience (required)
- Valid driver’s license (required)
- Ability to work in-person at our Fremont, MI location
This isn’t a “just a job.” It’s a career where your expertise is valued, your growth is encouraged, and your contributions are felt across West Michigan farms and job sites. If you’re ready to build something lasting with a team that has your back, we want to hear from you.
