What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at Pelican LLC?
Staff Accountant
We are a privately held real estate operator with a portfolio spanning multifamily residential communities, a mobile home park, a shopping center, and other commercial assets in Nevada. This role works directly alongside two senior accountants, supporting day-to-day accounting operations across multiple asset types and entities, and growing into broader responsibilities over time — including exposure to real estate operations for the right candidate.
What you'll do
- Perform full-cycle accounting across multiple entities — AP, AR, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close support
- Process vendor invoices, utility billing, and resident and tenant ledger adjustments accurately and on schedule
- Assist with CAM reconciliations, lease abstractions, and rent roll maintenance across asset types
- Prepare and maintain supporting schedules for financial reporting and owner distributions
- Reconcile AppFolio and QuickBooks records against bank statements and the general ledger
- Support preparation of annual budgets and property-level variance reporting
- As workload allows, assist with property operations tasks including vendor coordination, lease administration, and maintenance tracking
What we're looking for
- 2–4 years of full-cycle accounting experience; real estate or property management experience a strong plus
- Experience with QuickBooks and/or AppFolio preferred
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Solid understanding of GAAP, accrual accounting, and multi-entity bookkeeping
- Comfortable working independently and managing multiple priorities without losing detail
- Genuine interest in real estate operations and a desire to grow beyond the accounting function over time
- Proficiency in Excel; experience with Ramp or similar expense platforms a plus
Compensation & Benefits
- $50,000 – $60,000 base salary
- Medical, vision, and dental — 100% employer paid
- Paid time off
Candidates with a genuine interest in how real estate assets operate — not just how they're accounted for — are strongly encouraged to apply. There is a clear path into broader operations for the right person.
