Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Prepare and cook a variety of dishes, including appetizers, entrees, and desserts, following established recipes and culinary techniques.
· Utilize various cooking methods, such as grilling, roasting, sautéing, and frying, to achieve desired flavors and textures.
· Work closely with the culinary team to ensure consistent and accurate execution of menu items.
· Coordinate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient service.
· Prepares meal ingredients as directed by the head chef, senior chef, or other staff.
· Prepares fresh produce by peeling, cutting, and portioning.
· Prepares meat by trimming, cutting, and portioning.
· Prepares simple dishes such as breads or salads.
· Mixes or prepares condiments, dressings, and sauces.
· Maintains compliance with applicable health, safety, food handling, and hygiene codes and standards.
· Assists with unloading, inspection, and storage of raw ingredients and supplies.
· Collaborate with other kitchen staff, including chefs and sous chefs to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
· Basic understanding of or the ability to learn basic sanitation and regulations for workplace safety.
· Basic understanding of or the ability to learn food handling techniques, preparation, and cooking procedures.
· Ability to function well in a high-paced, and at times, stressful environment.
· Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
· Ability to work well as part of a team.
· Ability to maintain a sanitary work area.
Education and Experience:
· 2 years or more of experience in the culinary field.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of standing and working in a kitchen.
· Must be able to work late nights and unpredictable hours (up to 10 – 12 hours).
· Manual dexterity to cut and chop foods and perform other related tasks.
· Must be able to move lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 80 pounds.
· Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
· Must be able to work in a kitchen environment that may involve exposure to extreme heat or cold.
