Job Title: Assistant Superintendent
Note: The Assistant Superintendent is a key leadership position within Pelham City Schools, responsible for directing a major functional area of the school system and assisting the Superintendent in the planning, coordination, and evaluation of activities within their respective department.
Qualifications:
Requires Alabama administrative certification or experience related to administrative leadership.
A Master's Degree or higher is required.
A minimum of five years of administrative and/or supervisory experience is required.
Ability to work well with others and promote a team environment.
The Board may find acceptable alternatives to the stated qualification.
Job Description:
Answers directly to the Superintendent.
Carries out all duties related to job as assigned by the Superintendent.
Oversees personnel and programs as assigned by the Superintendent.
Administers, maintains, and improves all programs and activities within the field of responsibility.
Demonstrates a high degree of professionalism and ethics, working cooperatively with the Board, the Superintendent, administrators, certificated and non-certificated personnel, parents, and students.
Ability to exercise objective professional judgment.
Knowledge and skills in public relations and problem solving.
Skills in recruitment, selection, assignment, and evaluation of personnel.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Proficiency in technology programs such as Word and/or Excel.

Based on Pelham City Schools’ salary matrix with range: Salary negotiable

Performance Responsibilities:
Study and review related policies and administrative procedures and make recommendations to the Superintendent.
Responsible for assisting with or managing the budget development, approval, and expenditures for their assigned department.
Assist principals and managers in their respective areas.
Attend meetings, workshops, and conferences as assigned.
Keep informed of current trends and practices and disseminate professional information.
Coordinate and maintain necessary record keeping.
Maintain confidentiality of all Board of Education business.
Perform other duties that the Superintendent might reasonably assign.
