Urban Planner (Mid to Senior Level)

Pel-Ona Architects & Urbanists is seeking a Mid-Level to Senior Urban Planner!

We are looking for a candidate to play a lead role with our multi-disciplinary design team on all aspects of urban design and planning. We focus on urbanism with timeless values and sustainable living, at regional and national scales. Typical planning projects include feasibility studies, zoning and policy analysis, coordination with local governments and stake holders, annexation, site plan submittals, development code writing, public process and collaboration with affiliated engineering services. Our firm offers services of architecture, urban design, master planning, and the crafting of development codes. This position includes collaboration with our architectural staff members, and a technical understanding of elements that make up the built environment (e.g. dimensional standards, typologies) is required.

Job Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

· Research, documentation and analysis of existing conditions, precedent studies, zoning code and general plans.

· Evaluation and documentation of entitlement review processes

· Leadership role in drafting land plans in AutoCad

· Oversight of and collaboration with civil engineers, transportation engineers, landscape architects and government officials

· Code writing for Planned Unit Developments and development code for municipalities

· Management of meetings and preparation of agendas and meeting minutes

· Help with facilitating public meetings and conducting research

· Assistance with structuring project contracts and budget reviews

· This position also includes the opportunity to work on the architecture associated with development projects.

Required Qualifications:

· Have a Bachelor's degree in planning, urban design (or landscape architecture).

· Have 3 years of experience in site planning and managing entitlement processes.

· Be familiar with the goals and principles of New Urbanism.

· Possess strong verbal and written communication skills for client and multi-disciplinary sub-consultant team communications.

· Possess strong skills in AutoCAD or Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Photoshop and InDesign) and Microsoft Office. ArcGIS skill is a plus.

· Ability to work on multiple projects at one time and be detailed oriented.

This position is 32-40 hours/week in our Boulder, Colorado office. These terms are flexible based on applicant’s needs. The salary range listed here reflects compensation for a 32-hour and 40-hour work weeks.

Compensation:

$62,400 - $70,400 at 32 hours/week

$78,000 - $88,000 at 40 hours/week
