We are partnering with a growing construction organization to identify a Director of Business Development to lead expansion efforts in the Michigan market. This is a unique opportunity to build and grow a new territory from the ground up, with strong internal support and a highly lucrative, performance-driven compensation structure.
This role is ideal for a motivated, entrepreneurial professional who thrives in a hunter-style environment, enjoys cold calling and networking, and has a strong understanding of construction, design-build, and preconstruction processes.
What You’ll Do:
- Establish and grow a new territory within the Michigan market and surrounding areas
- Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities through proactive outreach and relationship building
- Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to drive market presence and revenue growth
- Network with industry partners including architects, engineers, brokers, and consultants
- Generate and qualify leads through cold calling and business development efforts
- Collaborate with internal teams on preconstruction services, estimating, and proposal development
- Manage the full sales cycle from initial outreach through proposal and close
- Build long-term client relationships and convert prospects into repeat business
- Provide regular updates on pipeline activity and progress to leadership
- Travel locally to meet with clients, prospects, and partners as needed
What We’re Looking For:
- 5 years of business development or sales experience within the construction industry
- Strong understanding of design-build, estimating, and preconstruction processes
- Background in architecture, construction management, engineering, or related field preferred
- Proven success in a hunter-style role with strong cold calling and prospecting skills
- Ability to build relationships and develop a territory from the ground up
- Strong business acumen within the A/E/C industry
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a high level of drive and accountability
