Manager of Financial Reporting (ACFR)

PeerSource is currently recruiting for a Manager of Financial Reporting on a Direct Hire basis. This role is based out of Golden, CO.

Summary

This role leads core accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with applicable standards. The position oversees general ledger activities, financial close processes, and audit coordination while driving process improvements and system optimization. This individual will also manage and develop a team and provide financial guidance to support organizational decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop an accounting team, establishing workflows, performance expectations, and professional development plans
• Oversee general ledger operations, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close processes
• Ensure accuracy and compliance of financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and GASB standards
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and chart of accounts to support consistency and transparency
• Prepare and support quarterly and annual financial statements, including comprehensive reporting deliverables
• Coordinate external audits, including documentation preparation, auditor communication, and corrective actions
• Manage fund accounting activities, ensuring proper classification and reporting across multiple fund types
• Design and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure regulatory compliance
• Drive process improvements, ERP system enhancements, and cross-functional financial initiatives

Required Skills

• 5 years of accounting or financial management experience
• Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity preferred, but someone without that experience who has the desire and ability to grow into a management role will also be considered
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, GASB, fund accounting, internal controls, and public sector financial compliance
• Experience managing financial close processes, preparing financial statements, and supporting audits. Prior ACFR experience highly preferred
• Familiarity with ERP-based accounting systems and financial reporting tools
• Ability to analyze financial data, identify risks, and implement process improvements
• Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Prior public sector experience (county/state/local/nonprofit); K12 experience preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• CMA or similar certification preferred
