Leadership
- Provide visionary leadership for the Durant Children’s Center (DCC) by directing the development, coordination, and continuous enhancement of all services in alignment with National Children’s Alliance (NCA) accreditation standards.
- Foster strategic partnerships by building and sustaining strong, collaborative relationships with external agencies, multidisciplinary teams, and community stakeholders to improve the collective response to child abuse and ensure the safety and well-being of children.
- Promote a culture of innovation and excellence by cultivating an organizational environment rooted in trauma-informed care, continuous quality improvement, and best practices that meet the evolving needs of children and families served by DCC Sumter.
- Maintain and coordinate all services provided within the DCC and ensure services meet at least the minimum standards put forth by the National Children’s Alliance.
- Revise and implement policies and procedures within the Center in efforts to maintain the quality of services.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of related community resources and ensure staff are knowledgeable of and utilize this information in making referrals for families.
- Work with the Center’s Family Advocates to ensure child(ren) and/or non-offending family members relate to appropriate referrals.
- Disseminate unique child focused expertise throughout community, state, and national organizations. Facilitate the system’s change to meet the needs of abused children.
- Participate in the improvement of the community child serving agencies capacities to protect children. Improve collaboration between relevant community agencies.
- Provide leadership to the staff of the Durant Children’s Center.
- Maintain knowledge and awareness of the physical needs of each DCC location and report problems to supervisor or arrange for service.
- Maintain expert status and attend to professional growth and self-care.
- Attending conferences, as assigned by Executive Director.
- Stay current on professional literature.
- Lead the development and implementation of high-quality, comprehensive Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) training initiatives that promote professional growth and team collaboration.
- Coordinate all logistical aspects of training events, including securing qualified facilitators, appropriate venues, necessary resources, and scheduling to maximize participation and impact.
- Collaborate with supervisors and team members to identify subject matter experts and relevant topics aligned with evolving best practices and agency needs.
- Manage presenter communications, including the collection of training materials, confirmation of technology and equipment needs, and preparation of handouts and resources.
- Ensure smooth execution of training events by setting up meeting spaces, distributing materials, and troubleshooting on-site needs as necessary.
- Regularly assess and monitor the physical condition and operational functionality of DCC Sumter to ensure a safe, welcoming, and trauma-informed environment for children, families, and staff.
- Serve as a liaison with on-site personnel and external vendors to address and resolve maintenance and repair issues promptly.
- Support resource development efforts by identifying and securing donated or in-kind goods, such as furnishings and equipment, to enhance the center’s physical space and operational capacity.
- Participate in the community education component of the program and provide presentations to faith-based, social, civic and government organizations.
- Distribute posters, brochures and crisis cards throughout the region.

- Attend appropriate training workshops and conferences
- Attend the Friends Board.
- Attend organizational staff meetings and other meetings upon request
- Abide by and meet all grant requirements and objectives
- Maintain confidentiality of and privacy of children and families, volunteers, and staff always
- Meet any other needs as identified by Supervisor
- Ensure Supervisor is knowledgeable about any issues that affect volunteers and interns
- Always conduct oneself professionally and ethically
- Master's degree in human services related field
- Certified Forensic Interviewer (preferred)
- Experience working within a Child Advocacy Center (CAC) (preferred)
- Experience in non-profit or governmental accounting, budgeting, and grants management.
- Proven leadership in managing staff, fostering collaboration, and guiding high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and act decisively in complex, high-states situations.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications including (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Knowledge of child abuse in general and specifically in MDT and CAC model.
- Excellent organizational skills; ability to multi-task
- SC SLED Criminal Record, Sex Offender Registry and DSS Central Registry clearance
- Valid SC Driver’s license
