Certified Special Education Teacher (Full-Time) – Special Education / Education / Teacher Position
Come make a meaningful difference in the lives of the residents at Pediatric Complex Care of Arkansas (PCCA). We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our onsite education team. This full-time education and teaching position is ideal for a certified special education teacher who is committed to supporting students with complex medical and developmental needs.
A current Special Education Certification through the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) is required. Candidates with certification in a related education field and an approved Alternative Licensing Plan (ALP) may also be considered.
PCCA follows the traditional school-year calendar for its education program, while providing care services 365 days per year. Opportunities for part-time summer work may be available for interested teachers.
Special Education Teacher / Education Professional - Responsibilities
- Plan and implement individualized special education curriculum and lesson plans tailored to each student’s needs, abilities, learning levels, and physical limitations.
- Develop and facilitate individual and group learning activities that promote growth in language, social, cognitive, and motor skills.
- Create structured opportunities for students to practice listening skills, peer interaction, and adaptive play.
- Collaborate with parents, administrators, testing specialists, social workers, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs).
- Develop, model, and implement effective instructional techniques and teaching strategies.
- Work closely with the treatment team to maximize each student’s educational potential and overall development.
- Maintain, track, and submit documentation of the 60 annual in-service training hours required by the Arkansas Department of Education.
Qualifications
- Active Arkansas Special Education Teaching License required
- Experience in special education, pediatric complex care, or related education settings preferred
- Strong collaboration, documentation, and classroom management skills
- Commitment to inclusive education and student-centered teaching
