Pediatric Cardiology Consultants of South Texas is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Medical Office Specialist to join our team in Live Oak, TX. Responsibilities:
- Greet and check in patients, ensuring a welcoming and efficient front-desk experience
- Prior Authorization and Referral Coordination
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments, referrals, and follow-up visits
- Verify insurance eligibility, obtain authorizations, and process co-pays and billing
- Maintain and update accurate electronic health records (EHR) and patient files
- Coordinate communication between patients, families, and clinical staff
- Handle incoming calls, messages, and correspondence in a timely and professional manner
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and office policies
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required; medical office or healthcare administration training preferred
- 1 years of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting
- Familiarity with medical billing, insurance verification, and prior authorizations
- Proficiency with EHR/EMR systems and general computer skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially with pediatric patients and families
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a busy clinical environment
- Professional, empathetic demeanor with a patient-first attitude
Preferred Experience
- AthenaOne experience
- Specialty physician-practice experience
- Prior authorization and referral coordination experience
- Experience supporting medical billing activities
- Commercial insurance and Medicaid managed-care experience
- Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 terminology
- Pediatric or cardiology experience
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
