The PedalPower Kids Regional Camp Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of all camp programs within their defined region, ensuring the delivery of consistently excellent and safe camp experiences to all participants.


The Regional Camp Director will manage a team of Lead Coaches and Camp Managers, and Bike Coaches, beginning with onboarding and training all team members in PedalPower Kids’ standards, methods, and proprietary instructional techniques.


The Regional Camp Director reports to the Founder and President and Director of Operations.


This is a seasonal full-time contract position, typically starting in late May (pre-camp season responsibilities) and continuing through the end of camp season in August. Our expectation is that you will be present for the entire camp season with the exception of one mutually agreeable paid vacation week and some flexibility for partial days off as needed for personal matters.


Qualifications:

  • Extensive leadership experience in youth programs or education (coaching, camps, classroom teacher, etc.) - 5 years, including managing inexperienced or young staff members
  • Track record of success managing summer camp operations or equivalent experience
  • Cycling interest and experience is a big plus - basic familiarity with bike operation and maintenance (or a willingness to learn!)
  • Bachelors degree strongly preferred (in process works!)
  • Training and certifications in First Aid, CPR, camp administration, youth coaching are a big plus
  • Must be able to pass all required background checks and fingerprinting: CJIS, CPS, Maryland Department of Education, etc.
  • Able to lift 30 pounds, work outdoors in the heat, and run and bike with campers
  • Comfortable working remotely - you will often be accessing our company systems via phone or iPad - must be very comfortable with technology.
  • Strong verbal and written communications to different audiences - staff, parents, site partners, etc.
  • Demonstrate impeccable judgement, problem-solving, and decision-making under pressure.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Staffing & Personnel Duties
    • Onboarding new employees and ready-to-work compliance
      • Responsible for new employee compliance with all requirements - background checks, training etc.
    • Staff schedule management and time tracking approvals
    • Team member role management and optimization
    • Performance management and coaching with all team members
    • Lead New Employee and All Staff Training in your market
  • Program Management Duties
    • Point of contact and coordination with site partners and vendors
    • Weekly planning for camp trips, events, and celebrations
    • Ensure curriculum and instructional methods are followed
    • Risk Management - safety and security of campers and staff, compliance to PPK, site, and state specific policies
  • Financial Management
    • Expense reimbursement, camper counts for invoices, and tracking retail sales
    • On-site contact for the head office
  • Communications
    • Point of contact for site partner communications
    • Customer service: parent communications and problem-solving
    • Ensuring appropriate pre-camp and during camp communications are sent
  • Equipment and Supplies Management
    • Pre-camp preparation, packing, and post-camp breakdown
    • Weekly needs assessment and replenishment
    • Manage expense reimbursement and budget for daily camp purchases
    • Ensure equipment safety and repair needs
    • Manage staff expense reimbursements
  • On-site Lead Coach and Camp Manager - In addition to the management responsibilities above, during the camp day, you will typically be assigned to lead a camp as the Head Coach
    • Lead Learn to Ride and Learn to Ride 2 Camps
    • Lead Adventure Camps Coach
  • Collaboration with the regional Ddrector team and the head office for weekly management meetings
