Summary
The Manager of Graphic Design is a highly-skilled and seasoned graphic designer with a professionally-relevant management resume and experience with web design. This candidate works with the Director of Creative and Brand, and is responsible for mentoring and guiding the graphic design team; establishing and enforcing service standards for quality, efficiency, and creativity; conducting creative brainstorms at the conception of a new project, which ensures a collaborative team environment; reviews/approves the project to ensure service standards are met and quality is held in high esteem; interviews candidates and creates job descriptions for open positions; manages print-production to ensure quality; manages stock photography subscriptions; and leads department outings and events which foster an environment of learning and professional growth. This person works side-by-side with the web development, content, SEO, ppc, social media and conversion teams to ensure that cross-functional departments are in constant communication and the product reflects best practices. This person and their team will use strong visual design skills to collaboratively create the look and feel for many of our academic partner’s websites, emails, and digital offerings. This person will also assist the team in crafting the user interfaces of those sites, lead designers, and identify and solve user experience challenges.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who is able to build and foster relationships, as well as be a confident decision-maker. This individual should understand Web trends and technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Work with Director of Creative and Brand to review/approve websites, landing pages, web forms, emails, social media graphics, and a variety of marketing print assets that align with marketing requirements
- Conduct cross-functional project brainstorm sessions
- Create and lead QA procedures and team development best practices
- Mentor graphic design staff to promote quality design, influence innovation and promote productivity
- Foster an environment of cross-functional collaboration
- Work effectively within Agile/Scrum environment
- Create job descriptions and perform interviews
- Manage image subscriptions
- Stay on top of industry and technological trends
- Recommend equipment changes and software updates
General Qualifications
- 4-year degree from an accredited institution in design, marketing or related field, OR appropriate combination of education and significant experience
- Minimum 8 years related design and management experience
- Fluent in the Adobe Creative Suite
- Expert knowledge of methods and techniques of graphic design layout
- Possesses authority and confidence in decision-making
- Strong understanding of grammar and spelling
- Expertise in proofing marketing assets and providing concrete direction
- Highly multitask-oriented
- Expert knowledge and understanding of color theory and typography
- Expertise working within and maintaining client identity standards across channels
- Understanding of web design with regard to optimization and mobile responsiveness
- Understanding of UX/UI language and strategy
- Understanding of SEO best practices
- Excellent communication skills
- Highly detail-oriented
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages activities of two or more sections or departments through subordinate managers who exercise full supervision in terms of costs, methods and staffing
Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the Colorado and New York City laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:
Minimum full-time salary range is between $95,000.00 - $105,000.00.
