What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Agent position at Pearlgreen Corporation?
Pearlgreen Corporation is seeking an intelligent, reliable, and adaptive person to join our team as a Purchasing Agent. We are a fast-paced office looking for an individual that can manage multiple tasks and work independently.
Key responsibilities of the job include:
- Researching and identifying appropriate vendors for our stock and special-order items
- Sourcing special merchandise items via catalogs and the internet
- Placing purchase orders for both special merchandise items and select key vendors
- Calling vendors to negotiate prices and follow up on delivery
- Contacting suppliers to schedule and expedite deliveries
- Resolving supply shortages, missed/late deliveries, and other day-to-day issues that may arise
Purchasing experience is preferred along with some building supply product knowledge, but we are willing to train if you are otherwise qualified.
Other qualifications include: Strong creativity and critical thinking skills, computer skills, and a willingness to learn. Also important are excellent customer service skills, verbal communication skills, a positive attitude, and a desire to be helpful.
Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus. A college degree is preferred. Preference will be given to those who live in the lower Westchester area.
The position is permanent and full time - please note that this role is on-site out of our offices in New Rochelle, NY. Starting salary will be $19-$22 per hour. Benefits include medical, dental, pension and paid vacation.
