What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Soccer Coach - MLS NEXT position at Pearland Soccer Club?
Pearland Soccer Club is seeking an outstanding soccer coach to join our High Performance pathway, working within the MLS NEXT platform. The Head Coach will play a key role in developing players and teams to compete at a high level, while ensuring a strong focus on individual player development.
The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery and evolution of the club’s game model and methodology, helping to build a consistent and aligned identity across all levels of the program. This role requires a coach who is organized, driven, and able to connect effectively with players, staff, and families.
Coaching Responsibilities
- Assigned responsibility for a minimum of two teams
- Lead the development and management of all players within assigned teams
- Support recruitment, selection, development, and evaluation of players
- Develop and implement periodized plans for assigned teams
- Design and deliver training sessions aligned with the club’s game model, methodology, and curriculum
- Contribute to maintaining a consistent playing identity across the program
- Other duties as assigned by club leadership
Administrative Responsibilities
- Collaborate with club leadership on individual player development plans
- Maintain clear, professional, and timely communication with players, parents, and staff
- Complete all administrative requirements related to MLS NEXT (including game day processes and player registration)
- Attend all relevant meetings, events, and league functions
- Plan and prepare all training sessions in line with club standards and expectations
- Support player recruitment strategies and execution alongside club leadership
- Build and maintain strong relationships across the club and wider community
- Provide regular player feedback, including written evaluations and seasonal development meetings
- Other duties as assigned by club leadership
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience coaching at a high level within youth academy environments
- Minimum USSF C License (or equivalent); B License preferred
- Strong understanding of player development principles and high-performance environments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- English required; Spanish bilingual ability preferred
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and travel for games and events
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and clean driving record
- Successful completion of background check

- Location: Pearland / South Houston area
- Candidates must have authorization to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship available)
Compensation
- Salary Range: $45,000 – $50,000, based on experience
