Role Description The Part-Time Night Welding Instructor will teach welding courses during evening hours at the Poplarville, MS campus in an on-site classroom and lab environment. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing and delivering instruction in welding techniques, safety practices, and equipment operation using approved curricula. The instructor will demonstrate proper use of welding tools and materials, supervise hands-on practice, and monitor student performance to ensure skill development and adherence to safety standards. Additional duties include assessing student progress through assignments and tests, maintaining accurate records of attendance and grades, and providing constructive feedback and guidance to support student success. The role may also involve collaborating with program leadership to align course content with industry requirements and participating in occasional departmental meetings or professional development activities. This is a part-time position, with schedule and hours aligned to night program needs.
Qualifications

• Strong welding skills in areas such as SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, cutting processes, and fabrication, with the ability to demonstrate safe and effective techniques.
• Practical experience in industrial, construction, or manufacturing welding environments and familiarity with current industry standards and codes.
• Knowledge of shop safety procedures, OSHA guidelines, equipment maintenance, and proper handling of materials and tools.
• Instructional and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly, guide hands-on learning, and provide constructive feedback.
• Organizational skills for lesson planning, recordkeeping, and managing multiple students and projects in a lab setting.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; postsecondary training, journeyperson status, or industry-recognized welding certifications (e.g., AWS) strongly preferred.
• Prior teaching or training experience in a classroom, lab, or on-the-job setting is beneficial, especially in a community college or adult education environment.
