1. POSITION SUMMARY: The Academy Technician position participates in Small Group
Employment through Pearl Buck Center's Academy Program. Academy Technician's will use the education, skills and training they've received from attending the Academy to participate in Small Group Employment at a host business. Small Group Employment includes services and training activities in regular business, industry and community settings. They may perform light manufacturing, assembly or food packaging duties, caregiving-related duties, tech related duties or other duties as assigned by the host business.
2. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Listen closely to instructions from the supervisor and ask questions if needed
Take care of all tools, equipment and company property
Perform a variety of tasks assigned by the host business
Maintain and exceed quality standards
Maintain company standards for professionalism
Work efficiently and follow instructions for the best practices for each job
3. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices as required assigned tasks
Follow rules and safety practices of the host business
Maintain an accurate daily record on timesheet of hours worked
Act responsive and engaged with developing a positive work environment which includes
respecting diversity and differences among each other
Other duties as assigned
4. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Acceptance into the Vocational Academy Program
Ability to pass an Oregon Department of Human Services background check
Participation in orientation and safety training provided by PBC and/or the host business
5. PHYSICAL DEMAND:
The physical effort typically applied in this job may include: Pushing, Pulling, Lifting, Carrying,
Reaching, Bending, Standing, Walking, Speaking and Repetition. Much of this will depend on the
specific demands of the task.
6. MENTAL OR VISUAL DEMAND:
Continuous mental and visual focus is required while working on tasks to ensure quality
7. WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work conditions will typically be indoors in a climate controlled environment
Outdoor work may be required with exposure to weather conditions
Work conditions may at times include exposure to dust or cleaning chemicals
Appropriate personal protective equipment will be supplied if needed
8. ATTENDANCE:
It is important that attendance protocols are followed and that Department Call-In Policies are
maintained at all times
9. SAFETY:
There is never a good reason to risk your own personal safety or that of a co-worker, client or
business partner.
Being pro-active to prevent injuries or incidents is an expectation
All injuries or incidents, no matter how small, must be reported
10. FSLA:
The position of Academy Technician is a non-exempt position
Non-Exempt positions are eligible for overtime pay
