What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Roofing Estimator position at Peak Recruiting Solutions?
This role is responsible for developing preliminary budgets and preparing formal bids by interpreting plans, performing take-offs, and estimating project costs. The Estimator works closely with clients and internal teams to ensure project specifications are feasible and aligned with industry standards. This position can be based in Las Vegas or Reno, Nevada.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop accurate and complete job estimates
- Identify labor, material, and time requirements by reviewing proposals, plans, specifications, and related documents
- Conduct site visits and attend pre-bid meetings to fully understand project scope
- Perform detailed plan reviews and take-offs
- Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors
- Review subcontractor pricing and scope to ensure full project coverage
- Assess subcontractors’ capabilities to perform the work
- Calculate costs for subcontract labor, general conditions, and materials
- Collaborate with clients to align project scope with budget, including evaluating alternative materials and methods
- Partner with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Pre-Construction teams to maintain strong relationships with clients and subcontractors
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in commercial roofing estimating
- Strong knowledge of single-ply, standing seam, and wall panel systems
- Experience with below-grade and above-grade waterproofing is a plus
- General knowledge of contracting and ability to review contracts
- Experience with EDGE estimating software is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Engineering, or Business is preferred
- OSHA 30 certification preferred
