What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Billing Specialist (Pediatric Primary Care) position at Peak Pediatric Care?
Peak Pediatric Care is a growing, family-owned pediatric primary care practice, and we are building our billing department in-house. We are looking for a Medical Billing Specialist to work closely with our billing lead and help create a strong, efficient, and patient-friendly billing process from the ground up.
What You’ll Do
This role will be hands-on and will include a mix of:
- Posting charges and reviewing claims for accuracy before submission
- Posting insurance and patient payments
- Managing accounts receivable (A/R), including follow-up on unpaid and denied claims
- Identifying trends in denials and helping improve billing processes
- Working closely with providers and staff to correct billing issues at the source
- Answering patient billing questions (phone, portal, and in-office)
- Explaining balances, deductibles, and insurance coverage in a clear and respectful way
- Supporting overall billing workflows as we build and refine the department
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in medical billing (primary care or pediatrics preferred)
- Strong understanding of the full billing cycle
- Comfortable working A/R and following claims through to resolution
- Ability to communicate clearly with both patients and staff
- Detail-oriented and able to catch issues before claims go out
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and help improve processes
- Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to step in where needed
We are not looking for someone who only wants to focus on one piece of billing. This role requires flexibility and a willingness to be involved across the billing process.
