As an Avionics Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and integrating avionics systems that will define the U.S. Army’s vertical lift capability for the next 30 years. Your work will directly contribute to the performance, safety, and success of next-generation military aircraft.

Pay Details: $70.00 to $100.00 per hour

As an Avionics Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and integrating avionics systems that will define the U.S. Army’s vertical lift capability for the next 30 years. Your work will directly contribute to the performance, safety, and success of next-generation military aircraft.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will help architect and validate complex avionics systems that power cutting-edge aircraft systems:
- Develop system architecture models for avionics software components
- Write and refine high-level system requirements for software and subsystems
- Perform MBSE modeling using MagicDraw/Cameo (SysML)
- Translate stakeholder expectations into functional and verifiable system requirements
- Validate and verify system requirements through structured engineering processes
- Develop test cases to support system verification and integration
- Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and external stakeholders to execute design and integration plans
- Troubleshoot and resolve system integration and verification issues
- Manage and track change requests, issue resolution, and problem reports to closure
- Coordinate design updates with Safety, Security, and Certification teams
- Ensure timely delivery of requirements, validation activities, and engineering milestones
- Escalate technical or program risks when needed to leadership
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
- 5 years of experience in avionics, systems engineering, or related engineering environments
- Strong background in requirements definition, allocation, validation, and verification
- Experience with embedded software and electronic systems integration
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with ability to engage senior leadership
- Hands-on experience with MBSE tools (e.g., MagicDraw, Cameo, IBM Rhapsody, Sparx EA)
- Familiarity with configuration management tools (Git, SVN, ClearCase, Dimensions, etc.)
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage cost, schedule, and technical performance
- This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
- 10 years of experience in aerospace or avionics systems engineering
- Experience with certification standards such as DO-178, DO-331, DO-297
- Knowledge of system safety, cybersecurity, and certification processes (FAA/EASA/NAA)
- Experience with ARINC 653 partition-based operating systems
- Background working on complex military or defense aviation programs
- Strong interpersonal skills with experience collaborating across engineering disciplines and suppliers
