PDS Optical is looking for a self-motivated and dependable Insurance Coordinator Assistant to complete our team! 

The Insurance Coordinator Assistant is responsible for assisting to ensure proper processing of all insurance claims needed for the local retail stores and the Optometrists to ensure timely and accurate payment. This position reports to the Insurance and Billing Compliance Manager.

This is a full-time, on-site position, Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm. The pay for this position will be based off experience and discussed during the interview. 

Must have at least 1-year experience in the Optical or Insurance field and have demonstrated good computer skills and working knowledge of standard computer equipment. 

Essential Functions

  • Research, follow up and resolve issues anytime there is a denial or partial payment made. 
  • Knowledge of Medicaid, Retail and Safety Contracts and Accounts. 
  • Basic knowledge pf procedures, frames, lenses, and fitting of eyewear to ensure accurate filing. 
  • Prepare all Medicaid usage reports as needed either monthly or quarterly 
  • Receive and Post Payments received from insurance carriers. 
  • Post Sales and Cash Receipts for retail stores Send Monthly Statement for balance dues Send out Monthly Recall Cards as needed. 
  • Assist with Lab Medicaid accounts if needed. 
  • Must have understanding of basic accounting procedures. 
  • Must be able to ensure proper insurance filing process, monitor progress and resolve routine problems for all department and or employee


Work Environment

This position operates in a retail store setting. This position requires the ability to work in close proximity to the general public and a diverse group of other co-workers. The store can be very busy at times. There can be an elevated noise level with phones ringing and visitors talking and it may be distracting with various interruptions.
