Position: Blaster/Painter
Reports To: Foreman
Summary: Cleans & sprays surfaces of manufactured products with cleaning and protective or decorative material such as paint, enamel, glaze, gel-coat, or lacquer by performing the following duties.
Essential Qualifications, Duties, and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned)
- Cleans grease and dirt from products.
- Shovels or pours abrasives sand, grit or steel shot of specified grade into a hopper.
- Inspect, start & maintain equipment that deliver blast mediums as well as regulate pressures that produce a safe and efficient environment.
- Removes rust from metal surfaces with blasting agents by directing nozzles appropriately and/or by the use of scrapers, brushes or abrasive papers (Manual & Machine) to create a smooth surface that is desired for coatings.
- Applies masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated.
- Fills cavities and dents with putty to attain smooth surface.
- Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color.
- Pours coating liquid into spray container and connects gun to air hose.
- Turns sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray.
- Pulls trigger and directs spray onto work surface to apply prime or finish coat.
- Coats areas inaccessible to hand sprayer with brush or other means.
- Cleans spraying equipment and brushes with solvent.
Physical Demands: The employee must regularly lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Blaster/Painters must be willing to comply with PCM Health, Safety, and Environmental rules and regulations. They must also comply with all governmental regulations.
