Job Title: Licensed Speech and Language Pathologist

Head Start offers Six (6) quality early childhood learning centers with 50 years of experience in early childhood development. Our team of professionals is committed to delivering high-quality education and support to families with children ages birth to five. We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Speech and Language Pathologist to join our team and make a positive impact on the lives of children and families.

Job Summary

As a Speech and Language Pathologist at PCCEO Head Start, you will play a crucial role in assessing, diagnosing, and providing therapeutic interventions for children with communication, speech, and language disorders. You will work closely with children, parents, and staff to develop tailored therapy plans, improve communication skills, and enhance overall quality of life.

Responsibilities:

1. Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive assessments to diagnose speech, language, and communication disorders in children ages birth to five.

2. Treatment Planning: Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, setting specific goals and objectives for therapy.

3. Therapeutic Interventions: Provide evidence-based therapy services, including speech and language exercises, articulation therapy, fluency therapy, and more, to help children improve their communication abilities.

4. Progress Monitoring: Regularly evaluate and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to achieve therapeutic goals.

5. Education: Educate parents and teachers about speech and language disorders, treatment options, and strategies for improving communication outside of therapy sessions.

6. Collaboration: Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including Peoria Public School District #150, physicians, educators, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure comprehensive care.

7. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including assessment reports, treatment plans, and progress notes.

8. Continuing Education: Stay current with advancements in the field of speech and language pathology through ongoing professional development and training.

9. Compliance: Adhere to all ethical and legal standards, including HIPAA regulations, in the provision of services.

Qualification:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • State licensure or certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
