What are the responsibilities and job description for the Computer Technician position at PC Net Techs?
We are looking for a Computer Technician to install, maintain and repair computers and networks. You will be part of a team that ensures an adequate IT infrastructure is in place and is used to its maximum capabilities for customers.
The ideal candidate will be able to work diligently and accurately and will possess a great problem-solving ability in order to fix issues and ensure functionality.
The goal is to install and maintain high quality networks and computer systems.
Responsibilities
- Set up hardware and install and configure software and drivers
- Maintain technological equipment (e.g. routers) or peripheral devices
- Install network equipment and manage components
- Manage security options and software used on computers and networks to maintain privacy and protection from attacks
- Perform regular upgrades to ensure systems remain updated
- Troubleshoot system failures or bugs and provide solutions to restore functionality
- Keep records of repairs and fixes for future reference
- Offer timely technical support to customers
Requirements
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- Very good communication abilities
- Exceptional organizing and time-management skills
- General Knowledge of computer systems and IT components
- General knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
- Not required but Relevant certifications (e.g. CompTIA A ) will be an advantage
Duties
PC support techs solve problems, answer questions, and install and maintain the hardware and software used in offices, schools, factories and homes. They ask a user to describe the problem, attempt to duplicate the problem on their own systems and offer solutions. They may work on the phone, email or face-to-face, and must react calmly and professionally toward users who may be frustrated and angry. In large companies, they may also train users on how to use equipment and applications, and submit reports to decision-makers about computer troubles.
