PROJECT ACCOUNTANT

We are seeking a motivated and confident Project Accountant to join our accounting team. The Project Accountant is responsible for managing the financial aspects of construction projects from setup through close-out. This role partners closely with Project Managers and Operations to ensure accurate job costing, timely billing, budget control, and compliance with contract requirements. Experience in electrical or construction contracting is strongly preferred.

The Project Accountant is responsible for managing the financial aspects of construction projects from setup through close-out. This role partners closely with Project Managers and Operations to ensure accurate job costing, timely billing, budget control, and compliance with contract requirements. Experience in electrical or construction contracting is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and maintain project records, including budgets, cost codes, billing terms, and contract requirements.
- Monitor project costs, job profitability, and budget-to-actual variances; prepare job cost reports and support financial analysis.
- Review and process project-related labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and vendor costs for accuracy and proper coding.
- Prepare and distribute customer invoices, including AIA billings, supporting documentation, and compliance with contract requirements.
- Manage retainage receivables and payables and ensure accurate revenue recognition and invoice recording.
- Process subcontractors pay applications and vendor invoices while maintaining required insurance, lien waivers, and compliance documentation.
- Reconcile accounts payable records, resolve vendor inquiries, and assist with committed cost tracking and cash flow forecasting.
- Support month-end close activities, maintain audit-ready financial records, and ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.
- Partner with Project Managers and Operations teams to provide financial guidance, respond to accounting inquiries, and improve project accounting processes.
- Perform additional duties as directed by accounting leaders
- Minimum of 2 years of experience.
- Construction accounting experience is required.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Vista or similiar)
