TITLE: SECONDARY MATHEMATICS TEACHER (PART-TIME)

Payette School District is seeking a collaborative and innovative mathematics teacher to join our team. We are committed to preparing students for college, careers, and life through engaging instruction and meaningful learning experiences. We are looking for an educator who enjoys building relationships with students, working as part of a collaborative team, and helping every learner develop confidence and success in mathematics.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid Idaho teaching certificate with the appropriate endorsement for assigned subject area. MATHEMATICS 6-12
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective instructional strategies appropriate for secondary learners.
  • Knowledge of Idaho Content Standards and district curriculum.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Ability to analyze student assessment data to improve instruction.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Ability to integrate instructional technology into teaching and learning.
  • Strong organizational, communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student and personnel information.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, parents, staff, and community members.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching at the secondary level.
  • Experience differentiating instruction for diverse learners.
  • Experience collaborating in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) or instructional teams.

Building Principal

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Math Specific Responsibilities

  • Teach various levels of secondary mathematics
  • Develop conceptual understanding through inquiry and application.
  • Use mathematical modeling and real-world problem solving.
  • Promote mathematical communication and reasoning.
  • Prepare students for advanced mathematics and postsecondary success.
  • Utilize technology and mathematical tools to enhance instruction.

Instruction

  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction that promotes student learning and achievement.
  • Prepare instructional materials and learning experiences appropriate for assigned courses.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Differentiate instruction based on student readiness, interests, and learning needs.
  • Incorporate instructional technology to enhance student learning.
  • Develop students' critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
  • Promote student engagement through meaningful and relevant learning experiences.
  • Maintain lesson plans and instructional records as required.

Learning Environment

  • Assess student learning using a variety of formative and summative assessment methods.
  • Analyze assessment data to guide instructional decisions and improve student achievement.
  • Provide timely, meaningful feedback to students regarding academic progress.
  • Maintain accurate student records, grades, attendance, and required documentation.
  • Implement accommodations and modifications as required by student educational plans.

Student Support

  • Encourage students to achieve their highest academic and personal potential.
  • Build positive relationships with students that promote learning and well-being.
  • Support students in developing responsibility, perseverance, collaboration, and ethical behavior.
  • Participate in intervention planning and other student support processes as assigned.
  • Refer students for additional support services when appropriate.

Communications and Collaboration

  • Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and guardians regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve curriculum, instruction, and student achievement.
  • Participate in department meetings, faculty meetings, professional learning communities, and district committees as assigned.
  • Work cooperatively with counselors, support staff, administrators, and community partners to support student success.

Professional Duties

  • Demonstrate professionalism and ethical conduct consistent with the Idaho Code of Ethics for Professional Educators.
  • Participate in ongoing professional learning and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support district initiatives and school improvement efforts.
  • Maintain required certifications and professional licensure.
  • Follow district policies, administrative procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Represent the district positively in all professional interactions.
  • Assist in upholding and enforcing district policies and school rules.
  • Perform assigned supervisory duties.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that are consistent with the responsibilities of a certificated teacher.

EVALUATION

Performance shall be evaluated annually by the Building Principal in accordance with district policy, Idaho law, and applicable administrative rule.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits are established by the district's negotiated certificated salary schedule and applicable Board policy.

Employment is contingent upon:

  • Board approval
  • Verification of certification and qualifications
  • Successful completion of required criminal history checks and fingerprinting
  • Verification of employment eligibility
  • Completion of all required district employment documentation

Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.

LEGAL REFERENCES

All certificated and non-certificated employees, as well as other individuals, are required to undergo a criminal history check and submit fingerprints. Any applicant convicted of any felony crimes enumerated in Section 33-1208, Idaho Code, may not be hired, and any applicant convicted of any felony offense listed in Section 33-1208(2), Idaho Code, shall not be hired.
