Responsibilities
- Perform pet grooming services including bathing, brushing, hair trimming, pet coat styling, and nail trimming to meet each pet’s specific needs.
- Handle animals with care and confidence, utilizing animal restraint techniques to ensure safety for both pets and staff.
- Conduct dog training sessions or assist with behavioral assessments as needed to promote good manners and comfort during grooming.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners to understand grooming preferences, provide advice on pet care, and discuss any health concerns observed during grooming.
- Maintain a clean and organized grooming area, ensuring all tools and equipment are sanitized and properly stored.
- Assist with animal handling tasks such as kennel cleaning, pet sitting, or supporting veterinary staff with animal care when required.
- Support heavy lifting of animals or equipment safely to prevent injury and ensure smooth daily operations.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in pet grooming, veterinary technician work, veterinary assisting, or animal handling is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of dog training, animal restraint techniques, and pet coat styling is essential.
- Strong communication skills for engaging with pet owners and team members effectively.
- Experience with animal care routines including pet nail trimming, kennel management, and heavy lifting.
- Familiarity with veterinary environments or equine experience is a plus but not mandatory.
- Demonstrated ability to handle animals safely and compassionately across various breeds and sizes.
- Excellent customer service skills to ensure a positive experience for clients and their pets.
