Responsibilities
- Provide attentive care to dogs staying at the facility, including feeding, administering medications, and monitoring health status
- Maintain cleanliness of kennels, common areas, and grooming stations to ensure a hygienic environment
- Handle dogs safely using proper animal restraint techniques while demonstrating gentle and confident animal handling skills
- Assist with pet grooming services such as bathing, brushing, and nail trimming to keep pets comfortable and looking their best
- Support pet sitting duties by engaging with dogs through play, walks, and enrichment activities to promote mental and physical well-being
- Observe dogs for signs of illness or distress and communicate any concerns to veterinary staff or management promptly
- Assist with training exercises or basic obedience activities as directed by trainers or veterinary professionals
Skills
- Strong animal handling skills with the ability to safely restrain dogs of various sizes and temperaments
- Experience in dog training or veterinary settings is highly desirable
- Knowledge of pet grooming techniques and pet sitting best practices
- Familiarity with veterinary assistant or veterinary technician procedures is a plus
- Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with pet owners and team members
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for moving supplies or assisting with larger animals
- Attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness, safety protocols, and accurate record keeping
