Job Overview

Pawnee Waste is seeking a Basin Attendant to support safe and compliant liquid offloading operations at our landfill in Grover, Colorado. This role is responsible for monitoring basin conditions, directing haul traffic, and ensuring adherence to site safety requirements. The Basin Attendant plays a key role in operational safety, environmental protection, and coordination with on-site operations.

This position works on-site at a 24/7 landfill operation.

Key Responsibilities:

Basin Monitoring & Traffic Control

• Monitor basin area conditions to ensure safe and compliant operations
• Direct haul trucks during basin entry, offloading, and exit
• Ensure proper spacing and safe movement of vehicles and equipment
• Maintain communication with the scale house and operations team

Safety & Compliance

• Verify drivers and spotters comply with posted rules and PPE requirements
• Identify unsafe conditions, hazards, or operational concerns
• Stop basin operations when safety or environmental risks are present
• Support emergency response actions in accordance with company procedures

Inspections & Reporting

• Conduct routine basin and safety equipment inspections
• Report maintenance needs, sediment buildup, or abnormal conditions
• Complete required inspections and incident documentation using company systems
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Ability to work safely around heavy equipment and active haul traffic
• Strong situational awareness and attention to detail
• Clear verbal communication skills and ability to give direction
• Ability to follow safety procedures and operational guidelines
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Must have and maintain a valid CPR & First Aid Responder certification OR be willing to receive and maintain certification

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Work is performed on-site at an active landfill operating 24/7
• Exposure to dust, odors, loud noise, and regulated materials is expected
• Continuous exposure to moving vehicles and equipment
• Required use of assigned personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Frequent standing, walking, and climbing ladders
• Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
• Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds

Pay: $25.80 - $27.60 per hour
