Role Description The Lead Technician is a full-time, on-site position based in Worthington, OH. This role is responsible for leading the installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance of fire, security, and integrated low-voltage systems at customer sites. The Lead Technician plans daily work, assigns tasks to team members, and provides on-the-job guidance to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to quality standards. Responsibilities include reading and interpreting drawings and specifications, coordinating with project managers and customers, troubleshooting system issues, and documenting work performed. The role also involves verifying system performance, training end users on system operation, maintaining tools and equipment, and adhering to all safety, compliance, and company procedures.
Qualifications
- Technical proficiency in low-voltage systems, including fire alarm, security, access control, CCTV, and related integration technologies.
- Strong skills in system installation, wiring, device mounting, terminations, testing, and commissioning of electronic life-safety and security systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, riser diagrams, and technical documentation, and apply them to field installations.
- Demonstrated experience leading field crews, assigning tasks, coaching technicians, and coordinating activities with project management and customers.
- Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving system, connectivity, and configuration issues.
- Solid understanding of relevant codes, standards, and best practices (e.g., NFPA, local building codes, industry regulations) and commitment to safe work practices.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills for documenting work, completing service reports, and interacting with customers in a professional manner.
- Ability to work on-site daily, including standing, climbing ladders, working in ceilings or confined spaces, and lifting equipment as required.
- Prior experience as a lead or senior technician in fire, security, or low-voltage integration environments strongly preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical trade school, certifications (e.g., NICET, manufacturer certifications), or related coursework are a plus.
