Pavion and our family of companies are seeking a talented and motivated Lead Technician to join our security business unit.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Install, program, and test fire alarm and life safety systems in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and manufacturer requirements.
- Supervise installation crews, assigning tasks and ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency on all job sites.
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and system schematics to determine equipment placement and wiring methods.
- Troubleshoot and repair system wiring, devices, and programming issues to ensure proper functionality and compliance.
- Perform system inspections and testing in accordance with NFPA, state, and local requirements.
- Train and mentor junior technicians, providing on-the-job guidance and technical instruction.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, company procedures, and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation including installation records, system configurations, and as-built drawings.
- Communicate effectively with customers to explain system operation, testing results, and any required follow-up work.
- Coordinate with project managers, electricians, and general contractors to ensure proper project scheduling and integration with other trades.
Basic Qualification:
- Basic knowledge of national and local alarm codes including NFPA 72, NEC, & California Building Code
- Must be able to demonstrate responsibility in being on time, regular consistent work attendance, good communication and completing all necessary field documentation as needed
- Must have a valid State Fire Marshal (SFM) Fire/Life Safety Technician Certification Card “Blue Card”
- The ability to carry and climb step/extension ladders where needed and lift objects up to 50 pounds when needed
- HS Diploma or GED
- 5 years of experience with servicing fire alarm systems or NICET II
- Valid Driver Licenses and acceptable driving record
- Must be able to demonstrate basic computer/tablet skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- NICET Certification
- Manufacturer certifications preferred (ex. Siemens, Notifier, Honeywell, Bosch)
- FASA/BASA
- 10 years of Fire Alarm Installation Experience
