The Chip Box Operator is responsible for operating a chip box or aggregate spreader during road maintenance and chip seal projects. This role helps ensure materials are spread evenly and safely to support high‑quality paving work.
Job Responsibilities
- Safely operate the chip box or aggregate spreader
- Perform pre‑operation equipment checks
- Load, unload, and monitor aggregate materials
- Spread materials evenly according to project requirements
- Adjust equipment settings to control material application
- Inspect work for proper coverage and quality
- Communicate with crew members to coordinate work
- Follow all safety rules and wear required PPE
- Report safety concerns or equipment issues immediately
- Perform basic maintenance and clean equipment after use
- Keep the work area clean and organized
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience
- Valid CDL with a clean driving record (required)
- Clean driving record for the past 3 years
- Ability to work outdoors in hot and physically demanding conditions
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions
- Able to travel and work flexible hours as required
- Must pass drug testing / BG
- Must be able to work under the Head of AZ Travel
