Job Summary:
The Preschool Community Teacher is a vital and supportive member of the PCSD team, working collaboratively with educators, support staff, and administration to achieve the shared goal of ensuring all students receive the education they need to succeed both today and tomorrow. This role is performed within a school environment, overseen by the school Principal and ESEP Coordinator, where teamwork and dedication to student success are paramount.
All staff are expected to fully adhere to the ethical standards set forth by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, continuously demonstrating a strong understanding of the tasks and responsibilities their roles require. Moreover, they must embody the core belief that every action we take is driven by a commitment to the best interests of our students.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Preschool Special Education Teacher
Salary Schedule: State Based Plus Local Supplement
Department: Exceptional Students Education Program/School

Reports To: Principal and Coordinator of ESEP
Work Schedule: 190 days/8 hr.
Grade/Level: N/A
FLSA: Exempt
Primary Function: Ability to provide instruction, assessing and encouraging student progress. Ability to manage the learning environment, complying with state and district level regulations and policies. Strong knowledge of assessment protocol, age-appropriate instructional techniques, curriculum and assessment measures.

Classroom Environment
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard
Hearing and speaking to exchange information
Seeing to read a variety of materials
Sitting for extended periods of time
Bending at the waist, kneeling, or crouching to file materials
Lifting a student up to a weight of 40 pounds without assistance
Perform specialized health care procedures
Qualifications:
A valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in assigned teaching field as required by the Professional Standards Commission
Must possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credentials as required for the position
The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.
Essential Functions:
Demonstrate the ability to identify appropriate assessment measures for area of need
Demonstrate the ability to use data to develop appropriate learning targets.
Assist students in achieving academic standards and establishing high expectations for performance
Promote student engagement and provide appropriate assessments
Provide age-appropriate instructional techniques
Monitor student progress
Respond to adequate and inadequate student progress with appropriate instructional interventions
Use time efficiently
Ensure effective physical setting for instruction
Ensure appropriate student behavior in the classroom
Follow professional practices consistent with school and district policies in working with students, student records, parents, and colleagues
Ensure adherence to the Code of Ethics for Educators in Georgia, as established by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission
Integrate the use of technology in the classroom and testing environment
Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position
Follow work schedule and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable and punctual manner
Participate in training programs and apply concepts learned
Review current developments, literature and technical source information related to job responsibilities
Ensure adherence to appropriate safety procedures
Follow federal and state laws, as well as Board policies
Perform other duties as assigned by Superintendent or designee
Follow professional practices consistent with school and district policies in working with students, student records, parents, and colleagues
Ensure adherence to the Code of Ethics for Educators in Georgia, as established by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission
